The Maker and Mender is a heartfelt sampler celebrating the art of needlework. The design features a verse from John Taylor's 1634 poem The Praise of the Needle, honoring the humble needle's role in creation and repair. Brenda Gervais has cherished this verse for years and chose to incorporate it into this piece to pay tribute to the essential tool of her craft.

The sampler is finished with a Hem Stitch and includes two sets of alphabets for personalization. Brenda used her initials alongside her mother's, acknowledging the patience and time her mother invested in teaching her to stitch during her youth.
